Who doesn't love learning quirky facts about the history of Brooklyn while sipping on some brew? Tonight, the Brooklyn Historical Society is kicking off the summer Tales from the Vault! series. BHS archivist John Zurrillo has pulled the records of Brooklyn's Corporation Counsel for the past year and he's dug up some pretty interesting stuff. Come hear how much this borough has changed since the 19th century. Another good reason to come tonight? The beer garden is finally open. Admission is free, drink tickets are $5, food tickets $2. Event begins at 6 p.m.

Back in May, filmmaking teams from throughout the tri-state area were asked to complete a film in just 48 hours. Tonight, you'll get to see the best picks from this crazy experiment at the Cantor Film Center. It's pretty amazing what these groups came up with on little sleep and lots of adrenaline. Come see for yourself tonight starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.

It's time for February's edition of Yum's the Word, the fun series that is a cross between old-fashioned birthday parties and modern-day storytelling. Robin Gelfenbien is the woman behind the show (and the homemade ice cream cakes). This month's theme is Tough Cookie. Listen as storytellers Joy Behar, Dion Flynn, and Sam Dingman share their experiences on stage starting at 7:30 p.m. It's also a special night because Orange is the New Black's Michelle Hurst (Miss Claudette) will be celebrating her birthday month. Doors open at 7 p.m., so there's plenty of time to play with Mad Libs and balloon animals before the show begins. Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
