Huntington Woman Accused Of Robbing Cab Drivers
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Police have arrested a Long Island woman on charges she robbed two taxi cab drivers after slashing them with a knife.
Amy Kowalewski of Huntington was charged with two counts of robbery and was set to be arraigned Tuesday.
Both incidents occurred in Huntington.
Police say the suspect called for a cab and was picked up at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday. Police say she slashed the 60-year-old driver in the neck and hands with a kitchen knife before fleeing with his cash.
The 26-year-old woman was arrested an hour later. The driver was treated for his injuries at Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Police say Kowalewski was suspected in a similar robbery of a cab driver two days earlier.
