Jets Place Jenkins On IR, Sign Green

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have placed nose tackle Kris Jenkins on injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Howard Green to help replace him.

The move Wednesday gives the Jets some much-needed depth on the defensive line, which took a major hit when Jenkins went down for the season.

An MRI exam revealed Tuesday that Jenkins tore the ACL in his surgically repaired left knee early in the Jets' season-opening 10-9 loss to Baltimore on Monday night. Jenkins missed half of last season after sustaining the same injury.

Green played with the Jets last season, but signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent. He was among the final cuts by the Redskins on Sept. 4.
