MANORHAVEN, NY (WCBS 880) – The feral cat problem is so bad in Manorhaven, the Board of Trustees is entertaining a TNR program. That’s trap, neuter, and release.

It would allow the animals to live, but no longer reproduce.

It’s something Will says needs to be done:

“I’ve seen people feed them right here on the street. They’re all over,” Will told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

Xinachs asked, “…the idea of actually having a mobile van come in and treat them?”

Will answered, “It’s a good idea. It’s a great idea.”

Xirinachs followed up, “Stop them from reproducing?”

Will’s reply: “Absolutely.”

Others call the scratchy issue a man-made problem that could be solved if irresponsible pet owners would just stop abandoning their animals.
