Car Hits Bridge Abutment In Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- Police in Rochester said an out-of-control car hit a median and struck a railroad bridge abutment before bursting into flames, killing four people in the vehicle.

Executive Deputy Chief George Markert said the car had been traveling a high rate of speed before the accident. He said some witnesses said the car was traveling without its headlights on.

Paramedics said they arrived to find the car engulfed in flames. Officials say two victims were trapped in the vehicle, one was ejected and the fourth partially ejected.

Police did not release the names, ages or genders of any of the victims.
