Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz released the official results from the election. As of 6:00 p.m. on Friday November 5th, the figures showed Dan Malloy receiving 566,498 votes and Tom Foley receiving 560,861 votes statewide, the Secretary of the State's office said in a news release.
Because the final vote margin exceeded 2,000 votes, there will be no statewide recount, the release said.
Al Jones of 1010 WINS reported that while the outcome is official, the results of the election won't be certified for another three weeks.
Foley left open the possibility of challenging the results in court. Malloy said he is continuing with the transition into the governor's office.
