NEW YORK (CBS 2/AP) — is selling a self-published book defending pedophiles, sparking discussions about the retailer’s obligation to vet items before they are sold in its online stores.

The book, “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover’s Code of Conduct” by Philip R. Greaves II, offers advice to pedophiles afraid of becoming the center of retaliation. It is an electronic book available for Inc.’s Kindle e-reader.

It’s a self-published e-book available at the touch of a button, and just as the name says, the book is a guide for pedophiles.

“It’s horrible,” Upper West Side resident Stephen Fredericks told CBS 2’s Derricke Dennis. “It’s unconscionable, isn’t it?”

If you take a closer look at the pages, you get the idea of everything that’s available for $4.79 on

“Never attempt to exert any authority over your youthful lover.”

“There are some forms of physical affection with minors…which are not illegal.”

Jennifer March-Joly is executive director of the New York-based Citizens Committee for Children, and she’s outraged not only at the author but also at Amazon.

“Whoever is making decisions at Amazon really should think twice about what they allow people to download and distribute,” March-Joly said. “Profits should not override the necessity of keeping children safe.”

Even with the obvious outrage, the book is still available on Amazon’s Web site. One argument that frequently surfaces is that of free speech.

“Amazon’s an Internet company, and there is freedom of speech, and there’s freedom to publish,” Brooklyn resident Andrea Preziotti said.

Amazon issued the following statement: “Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable…however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.”

Some wonder, though, if it’s all for publicity.

“Usually the best way, if that’s the case, is to not even give them press – then they lose their power,” Bronx resident Kay Ashaolu said.

The book has triggered mounting outrage on Twitter and beyond. A chorus of Twitter users is calling for Amazon to pull the book, with a few threatening to boycott the Kindle store until it does. There are also several comments on Amazon’s product page from outraged users.

The following is a product description on “This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian [sic] rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter [sic] sentences should they ever be caught.”

FYI and thank you. There is a new Christian guide out on the rearing of children which Amazon is planing to replace the Pedophiles Guide with now that it can be purchased as an ebook. The new paper back guide is tentatively called. ¨A Holy Whipping is NOT a Pedophiles Licking¨. And there are all sorts of appropriate punishments in it that can be used by the Christian family for everything from making the child eat hot jalapeño peppers for using the wrong words…to other more sever but not as ¨scaring¨ punishments.

And there is an entire chapter devoted to telling in such beauty that we are not animals like K9s or bears who lick and preen their young to bond with them. And that for the sake of the child´s sexual maturity affection should be held to a minimum and only used sparingly as a reward for positive behavior. B.F. Skinner is mentioned in the preface as being among those the author strongly admires.

Thank you once again for pointing this out. You should feel very proud.

None have the legal right to stop Amazon and in no way should Google filter. The Government does not have the legal right to make google. what in gods green earth is this man talking about!!! hes sick. who would invest money on someone like this?! it truly has become a sick sad world when you can freely sell books like this and it become a best seller…

  5. Denise says:

Boycotting is mainly boycotting all their independent sellers and merchants who have done nothing wrong, and I don’t see the right in that. can hardly be expected to police every single listing on their site, and they removed this listing as soon as they started getting complaints about it. Sellers and merchants are pretty much on the honor system when it comes to abiding by the site’s rules and agreements.

The so-called response from looks more like a generic response that a low-paid customer service rep would send out to an email inquiry and hardly a corporate response.

  6. Amy says:

This is gross, I am boycotting Amazon. The fact that a book was written and allowed to be sold is disgusting. People don’t care about what’s going on in the mind of a pedophile, they want them to be stopped. Pedophiles should not be defended, how do you defend someone that has sexually harmed a child? Easy, you shouldn’t.

  7. jacqui says:

I will NEVER by from Amazon again!

  8. Ivanna Groppavich says:

A must read for teachers too!.

  9. Anita Dikmon says:

Hurry Up!!! as stock is going quickly for da pope has made this MANDATORY reading for ALL religous clergy!!!

  10. Albert says:

Both the author and amazon have poop in their heads. They make more hatred on Pedophilia. What do they expect the future of this country ? If a child grow up with “mental scar” from the bad experience because of a pedophile what kind of person he/she will be ? Children are belong to the future of this country. THINK ! people. Even though money motivated, be considerate. I think anyone having sex with child has low spirit.

  11. Albert says:

We should educate our children in more professional way how to identify pedo and stay away from them. Let’s find a more efficient way to protect our innocent children. Tell children to report any suspicious or weird behavior of anyone around them So parents will do something to prevent the undesirable thing happen. Some pedo know how to make a child emotionally attach to them. So be very cautious about those people.

  12. NYC to the max says:

While the book is objectionable, it is not for Amazon to censor it. There’s something called the First Amendment to protect the “author”. If you don’t like it and find it distasteful, don’t purchase the book, but to punish the bookseller for it is small-minded and idiotic. If you punish amazon for carrying a book on pedophilia, why not punish it for carrying religious books that you disagree with, like the Holy Bible or Quaran, why should it then be allowed to have books like Communist Manifesto or Mein Kampf, or Lolita, or the writings of Thomas Paine, or Freud, or Galileo or…..

    1. jbs says:

do you have children NYC to the max??? i’m thinking you don’t. i don’t have a problem with any religious material, or, even as a jew, mein kampf being sold….and literally, that’s all i can say, because to have to try and explain it further to you a small minded and idiotic person such as yourself, would be a waste of time

      1. kagey01 says:

        Here here, well said jbs

      2. LMC says:

LOVE IT JBS!!!!!!!! Just love your post!!! I sooo agree!!! I dont even have any children and im disgusted!!!

    2. Kathy says:

Excuse me but pedophilia is A CRIME. Enough said.

      1. Fossil says:

Writing a book is not a crime. Selling a book is not a crime. Adults being sexual with minors IS a crime. =Being= a pedophile is most certainly NOT a crime. A person IS what he or she is.

  13. MikeOhio says:

It’s all a trick. When you get to page 10, Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC pops out and tell you ” Why don’t you have a seat right over there. “

  15. eugene says:

    sure, why not?

pedophilia is all the rage. it’s being promoted in public schools, on billboards on public streets, in advertising, in popular culture. why should there be any objection to a book that gives advice to people who like to have sex with children on how to get away with it?

our patently anachronistic laws, reflecting the equally anachronistic fallacy of “right and wrong” and “morality,” should be revised to follow the progressive maxim “old enough to pee? good enough for me!”

    1. LMC says:

Are you sick or something??? Point blank… ITS WRONG TO HAVE SEX WITH CHILDREN!!!!! Its gross and DISTURBING!!!! Hellooooo wake up and face reality!!!! DUUUH!!!

    2. Judy Moran says:

Our ‘patently anachronistic’ laws protect us from people like you! Thank God!!!

  16. Frankie says:

Diane! Say it, say it say it!

  17. Cillasi says:

I don’t think it’s up to Amazon to act as censor and engage in book-banning – that sets a very dangerous precedent – but it is up to our courts to forbid the sale of books or “training manuals” that endorse, promote, or elicit illegal acts of any kind.

  18. dizzy100 says:

Amazon deserves to be put in jail with these sick pigs castrate them all!

    1. phyllis says:

YES this world in bad enough we don’t need these kind of people read the bible,
      it has the answer.

  19. John Adams says:

The haters are having a field day over this article. They will be dealt with in the streets.

  20. Jac says:

If you don’t like it, boycott the company. It’s that simple. No reason to force anybody to do something by threatening them.
They also sell bibles even though christianity has killed millions of people and has put a stop to education and sanity in many countries. Another good reason to boycott them!

  21. brent says:

oh hell no! amazon has to go!

  22. sally says:

    Wow, love the spelling–they’re a highly-educated bunch.

  23. craig winter says:

What do people expect with groups like NAMBLA allowed to exist. Maybe the ACLU will consider them the protected minority. I am shocked that the poll wasn’t unanimous in condemning Amazon’s decision as outrageous. We don’t need to understand pedophiles, we need to eliminate them.

    1. DrJ says:

NAMBLA is a Federal law enforcement agency making targets “members” without their knowledge or consent. You could be a “member,” Mr. Winter, and you wouldn’t know it till a “mail deliverer” rings your bell, hands you a package you didn’t order, and then a gang of Feds jumps out and tackles you for “possessing” child porn. You’d plead guilty, like every other innocent target, to save your family a life sentence.

    2. jbs says:

a voice a reason! thank you!!

  24. Was just going to order a Kindle – now will get the similar p[roduct from Chapters-Indigo. also closing my account with amazon and will spread the wordl

  25. John Adams says:

Now the witch-hunters advocate book burning. This is what the Nazis did. If you don’t want to read the book then don’t buy it!

  26. David Shein says:

Everyone needs to read this. Amazon is crazy and we should all protest.

    1. Albert says:

YES Everyone needs to read this to Educate children how to identify pedo and avoid them.

  27. Servant of God says:

I did not know Amazon Condoned Pedophilia…. I’m going to let everyone know.
I’m selling all my stock today…

    1. Fossil says:

That’s a pretty big leap between offering a book for sale and “condoning” pedophilia, don’t you think?

  28. Servant Of God says:

Please give me the names of each person who buys this book so i can visit them with my friend, Mr. Baseball Bat!!!!!!

    1. Jonathan says:

After reading the book you should hang a sign saying “I’m a pedo” around your neck.

    2. Jonathan says:

After reading the book you should hang a sign saying ” I’m a pedo” around your neck. Ho Ho Ho

    3. leslie says:

I’m sure that would make God proud.

Well, im sure God would agree with HIS servant and that pedafiles should ROT in hell!!! Im also sure that God would be by his side HOLDING the bat!!! hahahahaha!!!

  29. ShameOnAmazon says:

Don’t buy the KINDLE until Amazon pulls the book. Boycott Amazon. I know I am. Spread the word. Keep our kids safe. Shame on Amazon.

    1. Fossil says:

Boycotting Amazon isn’t any more likely to keep our kids “safe” than TSA’s airport sexual assaults are to prevent airplane terror attacks. Be serious!

  30. peanut says:

Amazon, you SUCK. No more business for you. LOSER. Maybe you’ll think a little more if it’s YOUR child that a pedophile molests. If I worked for Amazon, I’d quite immediately.

  31. reta lane says:

You can bet I am going to boycott Amazon and am putting it out for everyone else to boycott and post.
Sickos. . You are just as bad as sickos that molest and rape children.
