A newly released study concludes that New Yorkers are the most stressed out people in the country.

Seventy-five percent of those questioned told the American Psychological Association that economic worries are causing them stress -- that's 10 percent higher than the rest of the country.

"Everyday you get up, you go grind, it's about the dollar," one woman told 1010 WINS' John Montone.

"There's not enough work, not enough money to go around," one man said.

Compared with workers nationally, New Yorkers are less satisfied with their jobs. One woman told Montone the "environment" or "atmosphere" at the workplace can put her on edge.

The study also found that housing costs, health and personal safety issues are stressing New Yorkers out more than most Americans.

The survey found that 1 in 5 New Yorkers cited a lack of time to effectively deal with the stress but more than half of those questioned felt they were doing enough to manage their stress.

According to the study, New Yorkers fared better than most Americans at coping with stress. Those in the Big Apple are more likely than Americans to walk/excercise and meditate/do yoga to relieve stress.

Also, since 2008, the number of New Yorkers to report eating to ease their stress has declined and less New Yorkers are skipping meals because of stress.
