NEW YORK (AP) — Medical examiners said a 2-year-old boy was beaten for some time before he was found unconscious at a Staten Island home, and they’ve ruled his death a homicide.

Police continued Thursday to investigate Josiah Taylor’s death. He was found unresponsive Tuesday and pronounced dead when taken to a hospital.

City medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says an autopsy determined the boy died of battered child syndrome. She says he had injuries in various stages of healing, indicating they occurred over some period of time.

No arrests have been made.

I don’t get it. These things happened in the same State? A young mother is arrested because her baby slipped out while she is doing her taxes. And the father was supposedly watching him? Then, a two year old is beaten to death and no charges are filed? What am I missing here?

The word “defense” in my previous comment should be “defenseless.”

Anyone that can beat a defense child like that should be placed in a room with a sadist that has a club and he should go to work freely on that person.
