L.I. Woman Arrested For Driving While Impaired

MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Suffolk County Police arrested a woman for driving while impaired by a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs after she was found driving the wrong way Long Island.

WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reports

Police said 28-year-old Alicia Tysz was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of Route 25 in Middle Island at 2 a.m.

The officer who noticed Tysz attempted to stop her, but Tysz instead drove onto the shoulder and continued driving 1/4 mile before stopping near Woodville Road, according to the police report.

Police charged her with driving while ability impaired and issued her citations for driving the wrong way and crossing a double yellow line.

She was scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip sometime on Monday afternoon.
