2 Staten Island Brothers Killed In Catskills Crash

ROXBURY, N.Y. (AP/CBSNewYork) -- Two brothers from Staten Island have died after their car ran off a road in the Catskill Mountains and sank in a pond.

State police say 38-year-old Paul Campione Jr. was driving on a local road in Roxbury when he failed to make a curve and his Subaru went off the road sometime before 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

They said Campione and his 33-year-old brother, Christopher Campione, were pulled from the submerged car and taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

State Police Capt. James Barnes says the men had a seasonal residence in the area. He says there was no snow at the time of the accident and investigators don't know why the car left the road, though speed may have been a factor.
