B&C Show Blog & Audio: Lockout, Castillo, Lots To Talk About

Bobby Dwyer

After a week off and a 'Road Show' yesterday, Boomer & Craig took their rightful place in the Allstate Studio this morning and picked-up right where they left off.  The NFLPA and the franchise owners are still at odds as the lockout continues and the guys try to make sense of it all.  Then Craig was ready to celebrate after hearing the news (according to Mike Puma of the NY Post) that the Mets Manager Terry Collins is leaning toward starting Luis Hernandez, not Luis Castillo at 2nd base come Opening Day, which would indicate that the 'Not So Amazins' are ready to bid Castillo a fond farewell, well at least a farewell anyway.  Mets fans like Craig have been waiting to hear that news for some time now, hence the aforementioned celebrating, but Booms wasn't going to celebrate just yet, preferring to rather wait and see how it all plays out…

When Boomer told Craig of his plans to attend the Rangers-Islanders game tonight, he immediately asked if he could tag along, only to get snubbed by the Booms.  Turns out Boomer will be attending the game with none other than Rangers legend and Boomer's boyhood idol, Rod Gilbert and he is bringing two friends along, which means Craigie is the odd man out and he didn't like it one bit.  In an attempt to make Craig feel a little better, Jerry extended an invitation to Craig to accompany his son and him at the Devils-Thrashers game this evening in Newark, Craig not so graciously declined.  Jerry took it in stride and then proceeded to provide an informative update…

Rick Peterson is the former pitching coach for the NY Mets, among other teams and he paid Boomer & Craig an in-studio visit this morning to talk a little baseball.  Peterson is known for his unique approach to pitching, relying on biomechanical and psychological principles.  The guys asked him about the struggles of Oliver Perez, whom had his best years while pitching for Peterson and the epic collapse of 2007.  These days Peterson is working with '3 P Sports' and hoping to get back in the Big Leagues…

Kenny Anderson experienced some success in the NCAA Tournament while running the point for Georgia Tech in the early 90's, leading the Yellow Jackets to a Final Four appearance during his freshman year.  He left Georgia Tech after just two years for the NBA, where he was drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the 2nd pick in the 1991 Draft.  These days Anderson still keeps up on the game and with the Tournament getting underway tonight in Dayton, the guys picked his brain a bit about the upcoming 'Dance'…
