B&C Show Blog & Audio: Coming, Going Home

Bobby Dwyer

Where to begin? After an eventful weekend, the guys had a lot to get to this morning but Boomer wanted no part of entering the Allstate Studio this morning after Craig passed wind, so he elected to begin the Show from the comfy confines of the control room while the smell dissipated.  Craig offered no apology for his flatulence choosing rather to focus on the news that the 'Not So Amazin' Mets are parting ways with Oliver Perez, this on the heels of the team saying farewell to Luis Castillo, who is close to inking a deal with the Phillies, on Friday.  So some good news out of Mets camp, but as far as the Knicks go, the news is not so good.  Since trading for Carmelo Anthony the Knickerbockers have posted a record of 7-8, including last night's embarrassing loss to the Bucks in Milwaukee.  Boomer is starting to believe that Carmelo might not be cut out to play in New York and furthermore may not be a winning player, Craigie took it a step further and labeled Melo as insecure, which could be a problem moving forward.  Then it was the 'Madness' that is college basketball, as it was an action packed weekend from the college hardwood and Boomer & Craig covered it all…

Jerry seemed excited to begin his first update of the week recapping the win by the Marquette Golden Eagles over Craig's beloved Syracuse Orange in the NCAA Tournament.  Jerry recapped all of the late scores from the Tourney before shifting his attention to the baseball diamond, where Mets fans rejoice with the news that Oliver Perez will no longer be a member of their ball club.  Jodi Applegate (pictured above with a dog, not Michael) and her husband Michael Kay (who is not pictured above and is not an animal) catch a baseball game over the weekend…

Over the 15 games that the Knicks have played since acquiring Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets, they have only won just seven of them and now the high scoring forward's worth is being questioned.  Boomer & Craig talked about the Knicks recent struggles, back-to-back losses to the Pistons and the Bucks, and what we might expect from Carmelo moving forward.  We also got to hear how Al 'Hughes' Dukes cut his head wide-open during a recent visit to his local gym.  Boomer wanted to be sure everyone knew exactly where the gash resided so he circled it with a permanent black marker, which Al seemed less than thrilled about…

Craig was thrilled when Jerry provided a play-by-play cut of John Sterling calling some of yesterday's Yankees spring training action.  Craigie is a big fan of Sterling's and hearing his voice is another reminder that baseball is right around the corner and that of course means more John and Suzyn Waldman, which is good for everyone.  Then Craig talked & sang some more about Carmelo and his 'homecoming', which to this point has gone a rye…

Darryl Strawberry is no longer working for the Mets and that was pretty much all we learned as the Straw-Man was pretty tight lipped on the subject, despite Craig's prodding.  One thing was clear though, Strawberry did not seem thrilled about no longer having a contract with the club he once played for…

With the news that Oliver Perez is no longer going to be a Met, Al 'Hughes' Dukes decided to celebrate with a brand new song for the erratic left-hander.  Today's musical creation was spawned from the Doors 1968 hit, 'Touch Me'.  Al performed it LIVE in-studio with the guys and really let it all hang-out…

Al Leiter is never at a loss for words, so when the guys wanted to talk a little baseball this morning, Al Dukes reached out to Leiter and a baseball conversation ensued.  Leiter assured the guys that he is financially secure and then he babbled on about baseball for close to 15 minutes…
