Jason Bay Sat Out Saturday With Stiff Back

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Mets outfielder Jason Bay missed New York's Grapefruit League game against the Atlanta Braves with a stiff back.

Bay said that he first felt his back tighten up while swinging the bat Friday and that it continued during the night. He said he would have played Saturday had it been a regular-season game.

The three-time All-Star said it's just "stiffness, soreness."

Bay said he already was scheduled to be off Sunday when the Mets play the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter.
