WHITE PLAINS, NY (WCBS 880) – Westchester County has found a colorful way to show off its rich history.

On the county’s website, you can now search more than 9,000 historical photographs and maps.

It’s all a part of the newly launched Westchester County Archives Digital Collections.

For example, you can search Playland and Tibbetts Brook Park in up pops historical photos of kids on rides and swimmers enjoying the sun.

“I think seeing beautiful photographs, it just shows you that we’ve always put an emphasis on the public having the opportunity to enjoy this landscape and we should treasure it,” says county archives director Patty Dohrenwend. “It’s important to know our history and to appreciate the past as well.”
