Ryan Expects An NFL Season, But Now Taking Time To Promote His Book

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Jets coach Rex Ryan believes there will be an NFL season, but the lockout is providing some extra time to promote his first book.

Normally, he would've had to work some appearances between rookie mini-camp. But the colorful coach did 21 TV and radio interviews on Wednesday and followed it up with a taping of the "CenterStage" show for the Yes Network in New York on Thursday.

He discussed his first book, "Play Like You Mean It," which was released Tuesday. It's Ryan's take on growing up with Buddy Ryan for a dad, his struggles with dyslexia and his first two years at the Jets' helm.

The defensive-minded coach who guided the Jets to the AFC championship game last season says, "I can't tell you when, but I believe without question that we'll be playing football."
