FBI Agent Adrienne Busby Indicted In Manhattan Federal Court For Making False Statements About Informant

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- FBI agent Adrienne Busby is accused of stepping over the line, committing a crime after having an affair with a confidential informant.

He's now facing federal indictment. The indictment is not for the affair, but for lying on a FBI document when he stated that this woman, who he wanted to use as an informant in a mortgage fraud investigation, was not the subject of any investigation herself when in fact, she was.

She's since been convicted in a Queens' identity theft case. The indictment charges that after her arrest, the FBI agent tried to help her by slipping confidential law enforcement documents to her attorney. Then, he's accused of lying when he denied doing it.

Agent Busby surrendered in El Paso,Texas. He's charged with two counts of making false statements which carry a sentence of up to five years in prison if convicted.
