SEASIDE PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Seaside Park is telling smokers to butt out. Smokers will no be permitted to light up on the beach, boardwalk, fishing piers and parks.

One anti-smoking group says Seaside Park has the state’s most stringent restrictions on public smoking.

1010 WINS’ Steve Sandberg reports: Seaside Park Says Butt Out!
“Nobody wants to come to a beach, lay there or be walking behind someone on our boardwalk and have to breathe in second hand smoke, it’s not good for them,” Martucci told 1010 WINS’ Steve Sandberg.
Officials say secondhand smoke is a health hazard and cigarette filters are poisoning the environment. More than 100 municipalities in New Jersey now have some form of outdoor smoking regulation.
