MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Police in suburban New York are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man.
Police told the Journal News the man was shot once in the chest just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday inside a playground near South Seventh Avenue and West Fourth Street in Mount Vernon.READ MORE: New York City Announces First-In-The-Nation Vaccine Mandate For Private Companies
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.
The shooting was reported by residents in the area and by one of the city’s Spot Shotter devices, a sensor which detects the location of shots fired and sends electronic notifications to police.READ MORE: Having Trouble Getting A COVID-19 Booster Appointment? There were no other injuries reported. No suspects have been identified.
