NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are investigating what appears to have been a vicious and deadly attack on a man just blocks from his home in Brooklyn.

Steve Halfon, 61, was taken from Collin Place, near Kings Park Highway, beaten and then his body dumped on East 7th Street in Midwood, 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck reports.

Halfon was found unconscious on the sidewalk in the Midwood section of the borough with a severe head injury around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Halfon was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

A witness told Schuck that a block away on Avenue O, three suspects dumped a blue Volvo, ditched their bloody clothes and fled.

Residents in the area are shocked.

“I’ve lived here since I was 12-years-old, I’ve never seen anything like this ever,” one man said.

The investigation is ongoing.

His body was abandoned down the street from his home. How has no one made that connection yet?

There is no Kings Park Highway! It’s Kings Highway! What morons at CBS write this stuff? A man is dead and you can’t even get the facts straight.

A man is dead and you’re quibbling about the name of a Highway!

      1. The Facts says:

Reporting inaccurate information is not quibbling. Sloppy reporting is all too common in the media today.
