Facebook, 9/11 Memorial Team Up To Pay Tribute To Victims Of The Attacks

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Social media giant Facebook has teamed up with the 9/11 Memorial to bring a new way for concerned citizens to pay tribute to those who died in the attack on America.

Facebook users can choose to update their status in honor of one of the victims if they activate the 9/11 Memorial application.

The functionality is simple. Users can go to the 9/11 Memorial's Facebook page. Once there, they can click on one of three buttons. One offers to update your profile photo to the 9/11 Memorial logo, or you can dedicate your status to a random - or specific - victim.

It's just the latest digital way to mark the anniversary. Last week, another app maker released a program that digitally inserts the Twin Towers back into the skyline.
