Not your typical performance setting, a stage will be set up on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier surrounded by now-stationary fighter jets.
“Our team had the idea that it would be amazing to do a culturally relevant music event on the deck of the Intrepid,” said Jessica Resler, co-owner of The Participation Agency.
After her agency received the initial approval from the Intrepid to produce the event, business partner Ebenezer Bond, brought the idea to Pandora who, with the help of State Farm, are now co-presenting the show.
“There has never been a show like this on the Intrepid. That was a really exciting opportunity for everyone,” Resler said.
As the sun sets, performances by The Roots and The Hold Steady will entertain the crowd along with four food trucks and a picturesque view of New York.READ MORE: Four Sikhs Among Victims Of Indianapolis Mass Shooting
Resler explained that the music selection was based on bands that had mass appeal in the City.
“Being that The Roots are from here and there is so much love for them in New York City, we thought they would be an amazing choice to mark the beginning of what we really hope is going to be an annual event,” Resler said. “We just knew that they would have the right ability to do it and the right songs to get everyone really excited. With the Hold Steady, it came down to looking at something that was a little bit cross genre to really represent what Pandora does.”
A never before seen opportunity to view music on the top of the Intrepid, Resler says concertgoers will be “flanked by 30 fighter jets on either side of you. It’s definitely going to be a show people are not going to forget for a long time.”
“Party On the Intrepid” is located at The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum at Pier 86, W. 46th St. and 12th Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m., show is at 7 p.m.MORE NEWS: Stimulus Check Latest: Is A Fourth Relief Payment Coming?
