Michael Vick Uncertain For Giants-Eagles; Reid Mum On Starter
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Who will it be under center for the Eagles against the Giants?
Michael Vick? Vince Young? Mike Kafka?
Vick sat out practice Wednesday because of broken ribs, and it's uncertain whether the Pro Bowl quarterback will play when Philadelphia visits New York on Sunday night.
"I haven't even begun to gain or gather information about Philadelphia," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "I can tell you this: They are a talented football team and we're going to prepare as hard as we can."
Eagles coach Andy Reid says Vick is "still sore" and "these next few days will tell" if he plays Sunday. Vick broke his two lower ribs on the second play of the Eagles' 21-17 loss to Arizona on Sunday.
He didn't tell anyone he was hurt and played through the pain.
"We're going to prepare like he's going to play," said Kenny Phillips. "If he doesn't we're not mad at him."
Reid wouldn't name a starter if Vick can't play, saying Vince Young and Mike Kafka would share reps in practice. Young was 30-17 as a starter in Tennessee and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2006. Kafka, a fourth-round pick last year, has thrown 16 passes in the NFL.
"(Young) has worked hard to know the offense," Reid said. "Both those two have done a great job with it. With Vince being the newer of the two, I think he's done a heck of a job of learning."
Wideout Jeremy Maclin has shoulder and hamstring injuries and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has a high ankle sprain. Maclin is making progress, but Rodgers-Cromartie likely won't play.
