NYPD Officers Injured In Run-In With Anarchists

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Two New York police officers were injured on Saturday night in connection with a series of anarchist-related arrests in Manhattan.

A group of twenty-five anarchists allegedly tried to smash windows at a Starbucks on Astor Place and Lafayette and took to the streets chanting "cops are murderers" and "all pigs must die", according to police.

The group also allegedly  assaulted police officers with pipes, bottles, and physical force.

Eric Marchese, 24 of Brentwood was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Alexander Penly, 41, of New York was charged with assault, menacing, disorderly conduct and a number of other charges.

An Oregon man, Nicholas Thommen, 30, was charged with assault, menacing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
