Gotham Gossipist: Real Envy Among 'Real Housewives' Over Swanky Book Launch Parties

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- "Literary masterminds" may not be the first thing to come to mind when you think of the current and former cast members of Bravo's 'Real Housewives of New York,' but the ladies are literate -- and a few have written books.

Bethenny Frankel may be a best-selling author, but Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon are happy when a little attention is sent their way...especially Jill Zarin, who wrote just about the least sexy book ever, "Secrets of a Jewish Mother."

At the recent book release party for former cast mate Kelly Bensimon's diet guide "I Can Make You Hot: The Supermodel Diet," Zarin was feeling terminally uncool, according to Page Six.

The party for the diet book went down at the Asellina restuarant in the Gansevoort Park Hotel, where Zarin was overheard by guests complaining that her book release party was way less extravagant.

A spectator confessed, "People were looking at Jill and were embarrassed for her."

All I can say is Supermodel vs. Jewish Mother, the titles really say it all, but if Jill was really so upset about her lack of upscale celebrating should could have flipped the bill for her book party herself--she was a Real Housewife for a reason.

Meanwhile, my prediction for the next Real Housewife to release a book is "Alex McCord's Guide to Pretentious Baby Names."
