Cops: Bellport Man Accused Of DWI With Kids In Car After Wreck In Homeless Shelter Parking Lot

BELLPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 31-year-old Bellport man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated with his two kids in the car, police said.

Rahiem Greenridge, was arrested Thursday night around 11 p.m. after losing control of his car and crashing into three parked vehicles in the lot of HELP Suffolk homeless shelter, police said.

Greenridge's children, ages 1 and 3, were in the car at the time of the incident, police said.

The children were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center where they were treated and released, police said.

Greenridge has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Greenridge resides at the shelter on Brook haven Avenue, police said.

According to its website, HELP Suffolk is a 76-unit transitional housing facility for homeless families housing a maximum of 100 adults and 200 children. It is the largest homeless shelter on Long Island.
