Thousands Like Kraft's Rainbow Pride Oreo Cookie; Others Threaten Boycott

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -  An Oreo cookie campaign launched by Kraft Foods has many singing its praises, and others threatening a boycott.

On Monday, a rainbow-stuffed Oreo cookie with the headline "Proudly Support Love!" was posted on Oreo's Facebook page in honor of Gay pride month.

The post received more than 231,000 likes, and nearly 40,000 comments. Despite all of the likes, not everyone was proud of "America's Favorite cookie."

Some of the comments, both positive and negative, are as follows:

Amanda said, "Awesome! I've decided to go on an Oreo diet!"

Steven said, "I am not even going to take two seconds of my amazing life to even look at a single negative comment on this page! Oreo, you are amazing! Thank you for standing up for people like me who are misunderstood, and often disrespected/ discriminated against. Thank you for standing up for love!! I ♥ Oreos"

Jacob posted, "Never eating oreos again!", while Thomas said, "Time to boycott Nabisco."

"Kraft Foods has a proud history of celebrating diversity and inclusiveness. We feel the OREO ad is a fun reflection of our values. There has been a lot of buzz about the image, and it shows how relevant OREO is to people even after 100 years," said Basil Maglaris, associate director of corporate affairs for Kraft.

What do you think of the campaign? Will it make you buy or boycott Oreo cookies? Sound Off below.
