Bronx Zoo Goes Wild With LEGOs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There's a new breed of tiger in town and it's not one you'd expect -- it's made entirely of LEGOs and you'll only see it at the Bronx Zoo this summer.

It's all part of the zoo's "Great Summer Zoofari."

The new exhibit features giant LEGO sculptures of lemurs, a tiger, hornbills, rhinos, gorillas, flamingoes, a giraffe and much more. Each sculpture sits right next to their real-life counterpart throughout the zoo.

Organizers say the goal of the program is to bring awareness to the challenges faced by the world's wildlife and their habitats and to inspire visitors to help build a better future for animals.

The exhibit features tons of other events and activities, including demonstrations by master builders on how to create your own LEGO wildlife sculpture.

The exhibit runs from Saturday, July 7 through Monday, September 3.
