NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A social discovery app is revealing some interesting character traits of neighborhoods in New York City.

The iPhone app Wyst, touted by its creators as a “new kind of message in a bottle,” lets users make geo-tagged notes and photos wherever they go.

It also allows people to tag their posts with one of seven moods — happy, sad, surprised, drunk, angry, flirty or fun.

So what do the notes tell you about the city?

  • Financial District — Angriest
  • SoHo — Happiest
  • Williamsburg — Drunkest
  • Clinton Hill — Saddest
  • Union Square — Flirtiest

Wyst’s creators say the idea for the app, which was “handcrafted in Brooklyn,” came from the following question:

“Wouldn’t it be awesome to freeze this moment in time, in this place, so that when someone else passes by this same spot they can find it and experience it themselves?”
