Jets Reportedly Agree To Sign Ex-Lions Cornerback Aaron Berry

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It seems the Jets have some help en route at the cornerback position.

But it'll come with some baggage.

The Jets have agreed to terms with troubled former Detroit Lions cornerback Aaron Berry, according to multiple reports.

The free-agent defensive back was cut by Detroit this summer following two offseason arrests in a one-month span. He served a three-game suspension from the league for a DUI bust and subsequent allegations that he pointed a gun at a small group of people in Harrisburg, Pa.

The Jets will sign Berry to a two-year deal, the New York Daily News reported. He'll help fill Gang Green's huge hole at cornerback, left when Darrelle Revis went down with a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3.

Kyle Wilson took over Revis' starting slot opposite Antonio Cromartie on Sunday. The Jets were smoked 34-0 by the San Francisco 49ers, though the damage was done mostly on the ground. New York even gave running back Joe McKnight some looks as a new member of the secondary.

Berry, 24, started three games for the Lions last season. He began the offseason as Detroit's presumptive starter before his release.
