Giants' Barden, Hosley, Phillips And Bernard Ruled Out For Week 5 Against Browns

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Wide receiver Ramses Barden, cornerback Jayron Hosley, safety Kenny Phillips and defensive tackle Rocky Bernard have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

They will join wide receiver Hakeem Nicks -- who will miss his third consecutive game -- on the Giants' inactive list for Week 5. Nicks is dealing with left foot and knee problems, but coach Tom Coughlin feels that his star playmaker is making significant progress.

"He's getting there, I think," Coughlin said. "Mentally he feels better, that's for sure. He feels like he's getting there."

Barden was diagnosed with a concussion on Wednesday. He didn't practice that day and his status was uncertain until Coughlin made the announcement on Friday.

Tackle David Diehl and linebacker Keith Rivers are doubtful to play against winless Cleveland.

Linebacker Michael Boley, safety Antrel Rolle, guard Chris Snee and cornerback Corey Webster remain questionable, though Boley, Rolle and Webster have declared that they'll be on the field this weekend.

"We'll keep monitoring his progress and we'll see," Coughlin said in regard to Snee.

As for the future for Phillips, Coughlin doesn't believe that the safety will have to go on short-term injured reserve.

"At this point, no," Coughlin said when asked if that was a possibility. "We do think he'll be ready prior to that."

Center David Baas and cornerback Michael Coe have been listed as probable.

And the injuries continue to mount for the G-Men. Sound off with your thoughts and comments below...
