“We wanted to get that big back rolling, and we knew we were close,” said Jets head coach Rex Ryan after the game. “We’ve been working hard, and today we were able to get him going. When Shonn carries it that well and has that kind of production, it’s great for the entire team.”

The Jets had been waiting all season for Greene to deliver that type of effort, and it finally came. Simply put, he was outstanding.

On Sunday, it was “easy being Greene!”

“When you’re down and the running game is not going as well as you want, it’s easy to just give up on it and just be like, ‘whatever,'” said Greene. “But we keep working every week at practice. We keep just grinding and grinding and saying it’s going to come along, and it did (on Sunday). My offensive line did a great job today. Lex (Hilliard) did a great job at fullback. The wide receivers blocked down the field. As one offense, one unit, we did a great job.”

In addition to Greene, there are two other nominees for this week’s award:

*New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw, who rushed for 116 yards on 27 carries. He added one touchdown as the Giants beat the San Francisco 49ers, 26-3.

*Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller, who picked up 88 yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown in the Bills’ 19-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Voting is under way right now and will run through Friday at 3 p.m. Fans may go here to cast votes for their favorite players nominated that week. FedEx and the NFL will announce the winners every Friday and award a $2,000 donation in each player’s name to their local area office of Junior Achievement USA — a non-profit organization that brings the real world to students through hands-on curriculum, delivered by trained classroom volunteers.

While there’s a far more important vote for everyone coming up in a few weeks, Jets fans can make an impact this week/ Vote for Greene as the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week!
