Father, Son Accused Of Kidnapping Long Island Driver

CORAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A father and son are under arrest for allegedly kidnapping a man at gunpoint and forcing him to drive them around for nearly two hours, Suffolk County Police said.

Sheldon Davis, 40, and Latif Davis, 22, approached the 24-year-old victim as he was getting into his car on Wilson Avenue in Middle Island around 4 p.m. Sunday, police said.

After about an hour and 45 minutes, the men made the victim pull into the Plaza 16 shopping center in Coram where they got out of the vehicle and went into a store, police said.

The victim escaped and called 911.

Police arrived within minutes and arrested both suspects. The men have been charged with kidnapping and menacing.

Latif Davis was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
