Driver Killed, 7 Others Injured In Weekend Crash On I-80 In New Jersey

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A driver was killed and seven others were injured this weekend when two cars collided on Interstate 80 in Saddle Brook, N.J.

Alex Fermin, 22, of Passaic, apparently lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a car in another westbound lane.

Both cars then went onto the grass median on the right side of the highway and flipped over.

Fermin was ejected from his car, and was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

His passenger suffered serious injuries and remained hospitalized Sunday, but further details were not disclosed.

Six people in the other car suffered minor injuries in the crash. They were treated at a hospital and later released.
