Vilma Irked By Anonymous Saints Player, Says 'We're Not The Jets'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma isn't pleased with a report from NOLA.com, which quoted an anonymous teammate calling for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to be fired.

In his response Wednesday, Vilma managed to tweak the player, the publication and the Jets.

Yes, the Jets.

"I'm bothered you reported it," Vilma told NOLA.com. "We're not the Jets who run to the media for everything."

Last offseason, several unnamed Jets blasted quarterback Mark Sanchez in a New York Daily News report. Tim Tebow found himself in the anonymous players' cross hairs this season, those quotes also published in the Daily News.

The player said of Spagnuolo, who has a Super Bowl ring from his time as Giants defensive coordinator: "Don't even get me started on lack (of) ability to adjust during games. Bad, bad, bad."

"If he's man enough to tell you, he should be man enough to put his name on it," said Vilma, who spent his first four seasons with the Jets. "And you should do the same."
