Former Brooklyn School Janitor Convicted Of Raping Eighth-Grade Girl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A former Brooklyn janitor was convicted Tuesday of raping an eighth-grade girl.

Ambiorix Rodrguez, 34, was convicted Tuesday of sexual assault and sexual abuse. He was set to be sentenced Feb. 20, and could end up in prison for the rest of his life.

Rodriguez worked as a custodian at the Middle School for Marketing and Legal Studies, at 905 Winthrop St. in Brooklyn, from September 2010 to January 2011, authorities said.

During that time, he repeatedly touched and had sex with the girl when she was 12 and 13 years old in the school's basement and stairwell, prosecutors said.

Rodriguez was arrested in April 2011 after the victim disclosed the abuse to school officials, who notified police.
