NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An aging water main broke in the Flatiron District Friday morning, sending gushing water down grates into a subway station below.
The 98-year-old, 36-inch water main broke in the middle of the street at 23rd and Broadway around 10:45 a.m., DEP spokeswoman Mercedes Padilla said.
The broken main sent nearly three feet of water into the 23rd Street station.
