Families Crowd City Parks To Take Advantage Of Snow

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Parts of New York City racked up accumulations of more than a foot and a half of snow overnight, and on Saturday morning, many families were headed to city parks and taking advantage of it.

CBS 2's Cindy Hsu reported Chris brought his two boys to Central Park for a day of sledding. They were well-prepared for the weather.

"They have several layers on," Chris said. "Xander wanted to keep his pajamas on, so that's his first layer. They have long underwear, turtleneck, and then ski pants, sweaters and a ski jacket."

Chris' two boys both had helmets on to keep them warm and safe.

Hsu herself even joined one family in making snow angels.

Meanwhile in Riverside Park, Jordan wiped in the fluffy powder out as he whooshed down the hill on a disc.

Another group was using a snowball propulsion device to start a battle, 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg reported.

Central Park saw a total of 11.4 inches of snow from the blizzard. The highest city total of 15 inches was seen in the Bronx.
