NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An elderly man was struck by an SUV when it jumped the curb in front of the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship location in Midtown Manhattan.

Witnesses said they heard what sounded like a blown tire right before the crash.

"We heard the screech, we saw the smoke," one man told 1010 WINS Juliet Papa. "That's when the car pretty much went out of control."
