Woman Sets Man Up For Robbery After Date In Suffolk County

NORTH AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A suitor in Suffolk County treated a young woman to dinner and bought her a box of chocolates, only to find himself betrayed as his date set him up to be robbed, police said.

Virginia Miller of North Amityville arranged to go on a date with the Lindenhurst man to celebrate her 26th birthday Monday night, Suffolk County police said. It was not disclosed how, or if, Miller knew the man before the date.

The man treated Miller to dinner at a fast food restaurant and gave her the box of chocolates. But after they returned to a home at 44 Nathalie Ave., in North Amityville and sat parked in the driveway, the man was treated not to a night of romance, but a night of violence.

Police said Miller texted her friends, who stormed out of the house and robbed the man. They assaulted him and stole his wallet, iPhone and a tablet. They even took the chocolates, police said.

Miller was also arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, police said.

The suspects were to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Islip.
