Police: Homeless Man Confessed To Three Intentionally Set Fires In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A homeless man has been arrested in connection with three arson incidents in the Bronx, police announced on Sunday.

Steve Contreras, 25, was arrested on Saturday night by police on Wards Island.

According to police, Contreras gave verbal and written confessions to intentionally setting a fire on Feb. 11 at 2385 Williamsbridge Road in Bronxwood.

Contreras also allegedly admitted to setting fire at the same address, 2139 Bruckner Boulevard in Unionport, on February 22, 2012 and Feb. 12 of this year.

Contreras has been charged with arson, reckless endangerment and assault.
