Port St. Lucie (CBSNewYork) – It seems unlikely that the Mets will sign Jose Valverde, a team insider told the Daily News.

The three-time All-Star had a rough 2012 postseason with the American League champion Detroit Tigers, blowing leads against the A’s in the ALDS and the Yankees in Game 1 of the ALCS (Ichiro, Ibanez two-run shots in the ninth). He has recorded 277 saves over a 10-year career with the Diamondbacks, Astros and Tigers.
