Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman Attack Each Other's Abilities In Classic Twitter Duel

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- So who's the best cornerback in the National Football League?

Many football fans would argue that it's unquestionably the Jets' Darrelle Revis. But after the 27-year-old played in just two games for Gang Green this season, the debate has gotten more heated.

Numerous corners gained notoriety with Revis on the shelf in 2012, and one of those players was the Seahawks' Richard Sherman, who was brilliant in helping his team reach the NFC divisional playoffs.

In his second season in the league, the second-year player recorded 64 tackles, three forced fumbles, eight interceptions and a touchdown.

The 2012 First Team All-Pro has been calling himself the best cornerback in the league following his successful campaign, and Revis decided to call him out on Twitter on Wednesday.

"I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like girl. This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety @rsherman_25," Revis tweeted.

He then followed that tweet up with,"@rsherman_25 I ain't your competition bro,@roddywhiteTV is!!!"

Revis added," My boy @JohnGeiger got more followers then@rsherman_25. Sit down young pup & wait your turn."

John Geiger is Revis' marketing and business manager.

As expected, Sherman responded to Revis with a flurry of tweets. He challenged the four-time Pro Bowler and called out his ability to make big plays on the field.

"@Revis24 don't need ya name... Ur name will be irrelevant once u step back on the field bruh. Get ya picks up!," Sherman tweeted.

He then added, "@Revis24 one season u will get 8 picks.... But it won't happen anytime soon... I did it in my 2nd season... So u have something to chase."

Revis, who finished just behind Charles Woodson in the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year race, didn't miss a beat, firing back, "That's like you saying your better then Deion Sanders & since he's not playing no more he's irrelevant for what he's done. @rsherman_25."

He still wasn't done after that.

Revis tweeted, "Hey everyone @rsherman_25 wants to be a lockdown corner. He wants to be in the talks of a lockdown corner. So follow him so he can become 1!"

He continued his rant by saying, "This dude just interrupted my NBA 2k game cause he has draSms to be a lockdown corner!!! HAHA #keepdreaming." He then mocked Sherman further by tweeting, "Look I just helped you get 6,000 followers homie!!! @rsherman_25."

The first-round pick of the Jets in 2007 has been especially outspoken as of late. Amid rumors that he might be traded, Revis told Andrea Kremer of the NFL Network that "I need answers and I'm not getting any."

In his two games last season, Revis amassed 11 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception.
