Homeless Brooklyn Man Sues Parents For $200,000

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless Brooklyn man is suing his parents, claiming they've been unsupportive and indifferent to his problems.

Bernard Bey is seeking $200,000 from his mother and father.

"I don't feel like my parents love me, they aren't supportive, they're emotionally abusive, verbally abusive," the 32-year-old 1010 WINS. "We don't have a family bond that a family should have."

Bey thinks his parents should mortgage their Bedford-Stuyvesant brownstone and use the money to help him open a Domino's Pizza franchise.

"Why not start a family business and start securing wealth for ourselves? Anybody that's logical is not going to sit on an asset and let it deteriorate and live poor when they don't have to," Bey said. "Why would you do that? Why would you live off the state and get public assistance and food stamps? Why would you allow your children to live like that?"

His mother said her son has never worked a day in his life and should go out and get a job.

But Bey said his mother is lying and that he's been working non-stop since he was 16-years-old.

"I have an associate's degree in business administration and accounting. I graduated in 2009," Bey said. "There's not a time that I haven't been working."

Bey now has dreams of becoming a recording mogul.

"I'm hoping that I can come to some type of resolution with my parents and we don't have to go through this at all; we could just work together," Bey said.

Family members said he has psychological issues.
