Gooey Grilled Cheese Ideas For A Chilly Day

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - What's better on a brisk and breezy day than a grilled cheese sandwich and warm tomato soup?

CBS 2's Tony Tantillo and his daughter Stephanie cooked up three dressed up grilled cheese sandwiches from around the world.

The Italian-style sandwich is layered with pesto, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.

The California grilled cheese features pepperjack cheese, avocado and bacon.

And the French version of the classic sandwich is made with gruyere cheese, caramelized onions and thyme.

The important thing to remember is that you can make anything into a grilled cheese sandwich, Tantillo said.

And you can even dress up store-bought tomato soup with truffle oil and fresh thyme sprinkled on top.
