Sen Schumer Calls On Airlines To Reverse Flight Change Fee Increases

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Senator Charles Schumer doesn't want to see airline fees go sky-high.

On Sunday the New York Democrat called on Delta, American, United Airlines, and U.S. Airways to reverse a decision to increase 'ticket change' fees, 1010 WINS reported.

Sen. Schumer said the fee increase would make it difficult for families on fixed budgets to afford airfare.

Sen Schumer Demands That Airlines Reverse Fees

"Most families plan their trips way in advance, they look for non-refundable tickets, they look for non-refundable flights," he said, "Maybe the kids get sick, work gets in the way, something comes up."

He was emphatic that the four, large, airlines reverse their decisions.

"I am asking, really demanding that Delta, American, U.S. Air, and United Airlines put the brakes on these out of control change of flight fees," he said.

In the past Senator Schumer has worked with airlines to reverse fees for carry-on baggage.
