Sources: Actress Bynes Arrested After Allegedly Tossing Bong Out Midtown Apartment Window

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – CBS 2 has learned actress Amanda Bynes was arrested following a disturbance in Midtown on Thursday night.

Bynes, 27, who is known for roles on both the big screen and television, was charged with possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence, police sources told CBS 2.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. officers from the NYPD's Midtown North Precinct responded to a 911 call from a residential building on West 47th Street. The building's doorman called police and stated Bynes was rolling a joint and smoking marijuana in the lobby of the building, sources said.

Officers responded to her apartment on the 36th floor and were greeted with a strong odor of marijuana, sources said.

Bynes allowed the officers into her apartment and while questioning the actress they noticed a bong on a table and started asking her about it. Bynes then became agitated and allegedly threw the bong out a window of the residence, sources said.

Bynes was then arrested and eventually transported in shackles to Manhattan Central Booking, sources said.

Bynes rose to fame starring in Nickelodeon's "All That" and has also starred in several films, including 2010's "Easy A."
