Earlier Monday, TV 10-55’s Alphonso Van Marsh said the scene was very exciting.

“Not only are the world’s media- I’m talking you’re hearing at least five, six, seven different languages as you go down this street of the world’s press and paparazzi camped out in front of this building, but also members of the public,” he said.  “Hats off to the local authorities here.  They are managing to keep this street open.”

Middleton was in labor Monday morning and a spokesperson for the royal couple said things were progressing as normal.  The Duchess gave birth at 4:24 p.m.

“Outside, maybe not so normal,” said Van Marsh.  “You’ve got helicopters up over the sky, you’ve got press crews here, you’ve got some real diehard royal fans who have been sleeping on benches dressed in flags for shirts, for pants, haven’t eaten.”

The Duke and Duchess arrived early Monday morning without a police escort and used a side entrance to get inside the hospital.
