911 Operator Saves Thanksgiving For Bridgeport, Conn. Robbery Victim

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A man who was robbed on Thanksgiving morning in Bridgeport, Conn., received a pleasant surprise courtesy of a sympathetic 911 operator.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported Saturday morning, it all started with what appeared to be a joke. The operator received a 911 call from a man claiming he had been robbed of his turkey-and-stuffing Thanksgiving meals.

The victim said the robbery happened as he was carrying the meals to a friend's house in Bridgeport.

After an officer arrived at the scene and verified the man was telling the truth, the 911 operator, Denny Rivera, joined her co-workers to pool money together and purchase two turkey dinners from Boston Market.

The officer then delivered the meals to the man and his friend.

Hall was told the victim and his friend were very happy and thankful for the dispatchers' efforts.
