Youngster Expected To Make NHL Debut Thursday

Strome leads the AHL with 33 points on nine goals and 24 assists. He was the Islanders’ top pick (No. 5 overall) in the 2011 draft.
The 20-year-old center will join his new teammates Wednesday, according to Newsday. Pierre-Marc Bouchard cleared waivers on Tuesday.

Strome was named November’s AHL Rookie of the Month and is coming off two straight Player of the Week honors.
The Islanders snapped a 10-game losing streak Tuesday with a 3-2 shootout win over the San Jose Sharks.
